NABI 2 charging port fixed in less than 60 minutes, 0$ investment :)

Hello, I have bought NABI 2 for my son, got it delivered from USA (i'm in Norway). Had problems with charging after one month, then i have bought new charger, that fixed the problem for another month.

After few months charging port broke, cable seams ok, but the problems is how to fix the port without shipping to tablet back and forward.

So i took it apart ....

... and found cracked plastics on the charging port.

Its impossible to find replacement for this NABI 2, unless you buy one with broken screen and just swap port or screens.

So the idea was to install different charging port, more durable. So i found old NOKIA 6230 and decided to do experiment

So i have opened up NOKIA 6230 and found that charging port might fit.

So, then i have to remove charging port, unsolder it.

I did not do very good job with soldering, but it worked.

There is 4 points of negative and on point of positive, two of the negative points needed to loop with extra cable.

After solder the NOKIA's port to place.

Due to NOKIA 6230 charging port being bigger, i needed to trim a little the plastics of the housing, bigger hole and remove some plastics from the screen side cover.

Then assemble your NABI2 back.

Then you need to cut NOKIA charger cable as well as original NABI 2 charger. Keep the USB plug and NOKIA charging pin and connect them together.

Tha'ts it, start charging your NABI 2.

Hope it will help to somebody, if it does, share it.

P.S. I'm sure you could you also different charging port, not only NOKIA 6230, as long as it has two pins and small enough to fit.

Good luck with your NABI 2 !!!!
